Oto can help with the brown spots on the leaves... too bad you can't add shrimps![]()
Hmm...if possible can add in those malayan shrimps...they're quite hardy provided there's hiding place for them
The role of master and servant begin to cloud in the water..
I have that kind of algae in my tank before! May I know the name of this algae?
Could be you filtration system. Maybe you can state the kind of filteration system that your are using?
And also the lights, what is your lighting regime and lights?
Your bioload seems high for a 2ft tank.
Look like your plant like not grow as fast as algae grow, try to change 20% water more frequence. The tank glass you need to manual clean it. CW do help.
Reduce feeding from 2 time a day to 1 time a day.
Plant browndish....may due light not enough , How much light per gallon in your tank?
CAn try add some Iron liqiud.....the new leaves will born and grow
The brown leaves will gone later also in later.
I have DIY CO2, most of the is growing.
At begginning, most people advise to plant a lot in than hence prevent algae from grow.
Algae grow because of too much nutriuent that plant not yet able to absord.
hope this will help
hi, thanks for the advise
over the weekend, the algae flourished...i scooped up as much as i can using a net
i introduced 5 OTOs and they are happily cleaning up the leaves - didn't manage to get malayan shrimps though...
intend to increase water change (20%to twice a week
have also bought more plants hopefully the growth of the algae will slow down...
my lights are 55W and switched on 8hrs a day
and filter is the hanging type...
here is a picture of my tank in office...
not much aquascaping, more like haphazard planting...
algae situation showed some improvement over the past few days
over the past weeks, my tank has been infested by a different kind of algae...i think it is hair algae - green, longish (> 1cm) and clinging on to the glass and also the plants...
especially after weekends, the algae will form a "canopy" over the plants - i can remove some of them by twirling a long chop stick, and remove those badly infested plants...
i suspect the problem is due to lack of water change (about 20% every 2 weeks due to inconvenience and laziness)
i intend to add some nerite snails and malayan shrimps (and possibly more plants)
would it work?
thanks
Hi
I had a hair algae problem - I added a SAE and they control the Algae.
Your often find that reducing a particular kind of algae allows another type of algae to flourish.
I have also added various shrimp species (Cherries, CRS, Red Nose & Japonica) to my tank and since have had no algae problems to speak of (touch wood).
Cheers
Chris
