    Anyone know how to increase the Ph of the water?my plant is growing very well, only my tetra..when i woke up each morning i find that their colour is very pale.the red colour all fade away.but when noon time their colour return.my water PH is about 5 to 5.5..

    Just found out that 2 of my tetra die just now.I added them into the tank on sunday.The previous batch of tetra is still ok..

    I am not positive PH affects tetra color.

    I remember my neon tetra color faded after the lights went off last time. PH was about 7 then. They could be sick (parasite?)? I did not really know the reason.

    Can try putting some coral chip. Once reach your ldeal Ph, remove it away. LFS sell at 1.50 sgd per net

    What species do you have in your tank? Most tetras prefer acidic to neutral pH environments.

    What you are describing about the fading of colour is absolutely normal. It is their way of camouflaging during night time when they are inactive. In the wild environment, there are predatory fishes prowling at night and tetras are part of their diet.

    yes, i agree what's been mentioned above. before you start to suspect pH is at fault, understand tetras first.

    imo, a stable pH is more impt than trying to achieve a certain range of pH by adding this and that.

    Tetras once acclimatised can be house in tanks with ph of up to 8 without problem. my is happy in a tank with a ph of around 7.8.
    ph is usually not the reason for death , poor acclimatisation and poor water quality is.
    There can only be ONE
