I setup a nano (Or is it Pico?) tank in the office after getting the green light from Boss.
After a week of cycling the tank I brought to the office some of my hardy Malayan shrimps. After a week in there with only 1 casualty, it's time to go shopping at C328...
Tank specs: 15cm x 15cm x 15cm
Light: 7W PL light from Kenis (Switched on 9hrs daily with Ikea timer.)
Filter: Over Hang Filter (OHF)
Cooling system: Office Air conditioner (25 - 28 Degrees C)
Black Stand: A frame from Ikea (Cost me $9 and weird stares from my colleagues...)
Here is my end result;
Flora:
Mix of Spiky and falme moss on bamboo charcoals.
Fake Gujing
Glosso
Other misc plants from home tank.
Fauna:
5 x Grade C Crystal Red shrimps
2 x Grade B Black Bee shrimps
1 x OTO
1 x Dwarf Cory
2 x Galaxy Boraras

Nice! I like the scape. Different shades of green and the 2 rocks add depth to the small tank.![]()
You changed the Ikea stand in the end?Your thermometer is showing 18ºC! Your office air-con must be really cold
Overall a very lush little cube tank![]()
geeezzz .. the rocks are like tombstones

Thanks for the compliment!
Jervis:
Ikea frame sort of melted due to a small leaking problem. Bought this stand from those shops at Fu Lu Shou for stone ornaments. Hard wood and water proof but cost me twice the Ikea frame. It's showing 20 degrees actually but only some days...
Cloud-Strife:
ha ha ha, my colleague said the same too, so I added subswaterstang on the front stone and US fissiden on the rear stone.

nice de-stressing set up in the office![]()
Hi stelim, happy for you since you have approval from your boss to setup a tank in your office. I wish I could do the same. Very nice tank, fully utilized space there. cheers..........
With Humble Regards,

To a4su: Thank you, it is a good de-stresser.
To mtinghl and hann: I waited a long time for the right moment before asking my boss's permission. The trick was to make him a little bit high on happiness (Clinched a deal) and liquor. =)

yeah I have no doubt in your tank size, but I don't get it how you managed to squeeze so many stuff inside your tank while mine.........

The canvas is what you make it...
I also use tweezers..
makes me wanna tear down the scape again!!
Hi Fireblade,
Here is my 2cents as this tank has grown with me since last November.
1. Small tank = anything in the tank have to be small. Unless you want that item to be focal point. My colleagues wanted to put in a palm sized goldfish in to scare me. Bunch of monkeys...
2. Cycling the tank is very important. Resist temptation to put in any fauna till after 2 weeks or after water parameters are optimal.
3. Have patience. Plants need time to grow.
4. If a type of plant fail, try another. This is the first time glosso is growing for me. HC and hairgrass did not fare so well.
5. Keep the water as cool as you can. Buy or make a fan if need to. It helps.
OHF motor gives off +/-2degrees of heat.
If I miss out any important points, please forgive me. Hope this helps.
Have a great weekend.
