Yeah I'm just experimenting but find the "jet" stream too powerful. I have to reduce the flow of my Eheim Pro II to help regulate the flow... which is not very effective in the long run. Probably will revert back to the usual Lily Pipe tomorrow

I was away for business Thu and Fri. Came back on Sat and found the tank totally overgrown My first reaction was... "how come the hairgrass look so dull?"

I tried to figure out why... could it be the lighting? The result of 3 days without fertilizer? Whatever it is... decided to perform a major trim to boost growth a little.

    wow!

you're background (tall hairgrass?) is growing at a DNA-overexpression level LOL!

do agree that somehow the japanese hairgrass looks somewhat dull though, perhaps its changing to submerged form?

ps, are there some green spot algae on the rocks?

    hi bro,
in my own opinion, the rocks might be a bit smaller. You might consider to change it to a bigger rock.

    Cheers!

The background grass is E. vivipara It's a very messy plant but sometimes the messiness can enhance the scape... it's just that I do not know how to handle them

The Jap HG is definitely not looking right... this is the first time I encounter this problem with HG. Let's hope that they will grow better after the initial trim.

I need to introduce 2 Otos tomorrow

Yes, many bros have expressed their opinions on the rock scape at the beginning... but I took it as a challenge to make the scape work... seems so much easier said than done however

The tank would probably get a prize for growth but too bad that's not a criteria in judging a scape Will have to refocus on the overall scape.

That's why I tried removing some plants to make way for new plants I will be introducing in the coming days...

I know I am not suppose to focus on growth... but the root development is simply mind-boggling!!! When I first planted this Blyxa japonica, the root system is no longer than 1/2". Now my tank is real messy because of the developed root system

I think the problem is not so much the rock... I didn't make good use of them

I really admire the CAU people, how did they handle E.vivipara. Do they use comb to tidy it up?

What you see is the final best shot, if you check their setup journal, is also in a mess also. They are the same what we setup. They will use stick to comb them straight before photo shot. Consistent maintenance is still important in the long run than last minute work.

Yeah as Blue suggested... I'm sure they will comb and trim all the offshoots 30 mins before the photo session. But E. vivipara is really too challenging for me... planning to abandon "ship"
