    Hi all,

I have a 3 x 1.5 x 2 ft tank and a Glo T5, 39W x 2 lighting and would like to know what is the most appropriate height the hang the lighting above the tank? I believe this would have impact on the plants at the bottom? Any advice is welcome!

    Thanks,

    Huister

    Huister,

I am taking this measurement based on that you are "hanging" the lights from a ceiling and not via the Support-Struts that come with lights. In any case, I will provide both:

    Hanging
If you are hanging from the top of the light casing, measure from the point it attaches to the light casing to the water surface: 10CM ~ 12CM. You can put it a bit higher if you want but this is a guideline.

    Support-Struts
Bottom of the light casing to the water surface is about 5CM ~ 6CM. I would not put it any lower than this taking into account your over powered lighting
