Will eggs expire if we don't hatch them at a certain period?

    Re: Killies Egg

    Jennifer,

Eggs of Annuals can remain viable for a certain period but I'm not sure how long it is. Obviously, eggs cannot remain viable forever. If they are not put into water, I'm quite sure they will eventually die. But how long is the "hatching window", that's something I'm unsure of although I've read somewhere that it's about a month for Nothos.

Your bag of peat should throw up more fry when you wet it again. So take good care of it and keep it somewhere dark and cool.

On Killietalk Digest, some breeders have reported hatching eggs that were incubated in peat for more than 2 years but I haven't heard of anyone experiencing something similar in Singapore. The warm weather here is one factor and the other more obvious reason is that 2 years ago, there were hardly any killifish breeders here.
