    Hi all,

A picture of my CO2 splitter. Cost less than $25.00. I can’t remember the shop I bought this splitter. It is near to Jalan Berseh. If not mistaken Bioplast is using this system.

I think the spelling should be Jalan Besar.

Is it along Jalan Besar or at Kelantan Lane?

It is a pneumatic splitter. Do they sell the splitter with more than 2 splits? Don't have time to go to Kelantan Lane or Jalan Besar to recce.

Do they sell the splitter with more than 2 splits?
Yes, 3 split. You will need to buy 3 needle valves, one 3-way splitter and some of their airline.

Blk 28 Kelantan Road? Should be it.

    Rashid,

at the error page, click on 'Slideshow' above where the photo is supposed to be. When it is showing the splitter, click the 'Stop' button.

    Sia Meng,

I saw the mop in the cup pic, are they for non-annual? Care to share the differences as compare to the floating & sinking mop? Sorry for the off topic question.

    Zulkifli,

The Kelantan Road area is a haven for DIY stuff. There are many hardware stores there selling things like valves, splitters, cooling fans etc, equipment useful for planted tanks. Just across the road, at Veerasamy Road is Kim Siah Electric Co at Block 635. They are a wholesaler for all sorts of lights. I bought some Phillips 865 2 feet tubes this afternoon from them for only $2.30 each. Unfortunately, they don't have the 4 feet tubes in stock at the present moment.

Along Bencoolen Street itself, there's a shop that sells plastic meshes. It's called Lai Xinfeng & Sons Hardware. I bought the plastic meshes I use for my moss walls from them.

By the way, Sia Meng, I bought a 2 way CO2 splitter from Nature Aquarium for a friend the other day. They are selling one for $25. It's simple to use and quite effective. I managed to fine-tune the bubbling rate in a matter of less than a minute.

Hmm....looks like NA has drop the price a bit...

The NA splitter is a brass splitter and includes two needle valves.

    Hi Kwek Leong,

I bought one from NA a long while back but haven't gone around to hooking it up. Was told that it has needle valves built in and if curious creatures wanna know what it looks like, try this...

If it works like it should, then it's pretty good value for money then. Good luck guys and ya... don't forget to have fun!

    Fellow 'aqua-planters', I need help!

I had some problem fitting a 2-way splitter to my non-gauge regulator owing to thread-size difference. See HERE.

Managed to T-loan a regulator from Kwek Leong for my new 5Litre CO2 cylinder and have temporarily rigged up the connectors to the splitter.

    Bigger pic here.

    I've not mounted the regulator to the cylinder yet because;
    1. There are TWO GAUGES; I think one is for the cylinder's internal pressure and the other is the reduced pressure (before going to needle valves). What is supposed to be the safe or 'correct' reduced pressure? 10 lbs (10psi) or what??

    2. The TUBING used between the regulator and splitter has the following specs; PROLINE *4x6* Polyurethane Calibrated 98 Shore A *T13* 47211. Is this tubing suitable for CO2 use?

I wouldn't want to burst up anything and any advise is most appreciated. Many thanks in advance!

My gauge will indicate an internal pressure (tank) of 1000 psi and reduced pressure of 50 psi for a newly top-upped tank. However, mine is using solenoid, so for a manual regulator just don't exceed 50psi.

The tubing should be fine. In fact, polyurethane tubing meant for pneumatic used is recommended since there will be no leakage of CO2 as compared to using the normal airline tubing.

BTW, Ron, how come you are not using a solenoid valve?

Thanks Zulkifli. If that's the case, then 20psi ought to be very safe.

Ah... it's good to have such odds and ends at my workplace. There's a compressor running in one of the rooms and found the necessary bits, without going down to Kelantan.

Solenoid? Unless I can tap electricity from the corridor, then I'll fit one! .

In case you didn't know, all my tanks and killie rack are along the corridor. Sssshhhh....

Ooops, forgot about the pics that I saw of your "heaven".

Out of curiosity, don't any of your things get stolen or vandalised? Or it could be that your neighbourhood is one ideal place!

A man's home is his castle and a corner corridor is definitely heaven!

I count my blessings, Zulkifli, for having good friends and good neighbours.

Although my 'little corner' isn't much to shout about, I've had people from the opposite block visiting my tanks and herb planter boxes, and more often than not, they leave with either a pot of young aloe vera or a plastic tank with White Clouds for their kids. When those kids can take care of these minnows, they can have some GARs or AUSs.... we really need young blood, who can think species conservation or simply appreciate our little beauties.

I suppose it's also how one nutures rapport with those around them. My neighbour directly one floor below me, now has fish tanks too and I just dangle an extra air tube to drive the UGF in his 3 footer. I use a 'Hi-Blow' pump and have more than enough to spare.

Two new neighbours will be moving in soon... and how lucky can I get... they like fish and plants too!!! I can afford to lay another 2 air tubes to their tanks and soon, will have to rope them into killifish!

Vandals? No such problem... yet! It's either my karma that's holding up or the surveillance cam, that makes potential 'fishermen' worry!! (I hope it's the former) Until my luck runs out, the CO2 cylinder will remain outside.
