    Hi, folks,

David Grim, my good friend who lives in the US of A sent me this picture a few days ago. He has a piece of driftwood sticking out slightly from his 240 gallon tank and on it, there's Christmas Moss and Glossostigma elatinoides growing emmersed.

If I remember correctly, David's tank won an "honourable mention" in the AGA contest a year ago. His tank is huge and if you like to see it, you can ask David to send me the picture.

I cannot see much from here but it looks like another green thumb owner.

I just admire people who have this aquascape skill which I failed miserably. I had been re-scaping (minor and major) my tank at least once every 3 months for the past 4 years but I hardly satisfy which what I ever had. Well, just keep going...

It looks like a page out of the Wallpaper magazine. Suitable to look at on a coffeetable seeping afternoon tea.

    Hi everyone,

Thank you very much for the nice words about the picture. Sure is neat to see it on the web.

Actually, that was probably the only algae free part of the tank when I took that pic. I am just coming out of a terrible algae infestation in this tank, which is 240 gallons. I am using metal halide lights and a sump type system with CO2 injection. My previous large tank had power compact lights and Eheim cannister filtration with CO2 injection. I have changed some of my tank management practices and added a lot of Amano shrimp and some Jordanella floridae for algae control. That log with the christmas moss and glosso emmersed got a bleach dip just last night.

The tank has made a nice rebound so far, and the Jordanella are starting to clean up the long stringy filamentious algae.

I will send some pics when the tank has matured some more. I hope I get the hang of this new light/filtration setup soon.

I am glad to be able to post. Apparently those of us using AOL web browsers have a problem directly posting to the forum. This one was sent thru Internet Explorer. My ISP is owned by AOL.

Saw the fix in the FAQ section, Kwek Leong.
    Regards,
    David Grim
