    Hi, folks,

Gan QingZhong aka Turaco sent me several pictures of his planted tanks but I'm uploading only one of them because they all look about the same. Any picture uploaded by me takes up space on my server so I have to be a bit selective. Sorry about that, Gan. But your tank looks great. I like to know if the fish on the right of the picture is the one they call the "Cigar Fish?". I've heard that they eat Black Brush Algae. Is that true, Gan?

Yes, that's the Anostomus anostomus. I can't be sure if they eat BBA cause I can't find any in my tank . It nibbed on a guppy's tail though.

I like the rasbora dorsiocellata, they are fantastic schooling fish, I think they school better than rummies. Can I ask where you got them from? I haven't seen them for a long time.

Yes, they are fantastic fishes (some people called it mosquito fish due to its' size). As for me, I got them from fish farm in the former Lorong Halus place. They are very tough fish and had been with me for more than 3 years. Best thing is they do not hide, they swim around happily.

Beautiful picture. The bright green plant looks like what we call Baby's Tears in the US. Do you have the latin name, turaco?

The latin name is 'Micranthemum micranthemoides'. They need strong light to grow well. I have 4x 36W PL for a 2.5FT tank.

    turaco,
Yes, that is what we call Baby's Tears here in the US. I saw some at the LFS (local fish store) yesterday and that was the latin name.

Our LFS here is really good. They just started getting their plants from Oriental Aquarium, and the variety is great. They even have 4 types of algae eating shrimp: Amanos, tiger, bumble bee, and cherry.

David, here's 2 pics of the cherry shrimps I have in my planted tank:

The cherry is the easiest-to-breed shrimp among all. Give them an enviroment with lots of plants or moss, no predator, if they survive, they will breed in no time.
