    That's the only healthy male, the rest of the ladies are sliders .

    Super fish Gan! Pitty about the little ladies though. I used to have the same problems till I started using cold water to hatch the nigripinnis.

    This whole little group of fish may all oneday be simply dumped together as nigripinnis so don't get too comfortable with the names...

    Yes, Loh, Jianyang is correct. The code sticks like glue and is perhaps the most NB part of the name. Huber synonymizes the fish with Aus. affinis (another NIG type) so the complete name is:
    Austrolebias affinis La Cordobesa CXD 001
    Have fun. They are real pretty.

    Gan,
    It looks like you'll just have to condition the females with tubifex and transfer them to a small tank, with peat covering the entire base. I doubt that the sliders will have sufficient mobility to swim into a higher peat bowl.

    Introduce the breeders into this tank for 24hrs and return them to their 'home'. Condition and re-introduce again. Collect the peat after 3 'sessions' and check for eggs. Hopefully, you get to see some eggs.

    I failed miserably with Simp magnificus many moons ago and like Tyrone said, cold water helps, especially when combined with oxygen tablets from JBL or granulated type from Sera, Oxypur, I think.

    This combination is what I use now as SOP for all annuals.

    The image of the male looks matured, so do try it out and let us know.

    BTW, folk, this is what Gan was trying to show...

    Gan, to add the image into your post, right-click on the image, select properties, copy the URL and add the [img]xxx[/img] tags (where 'xxx' is the URL)
    eg. of thumb image;
    Code:
    For a larger image, remove '.thumb' (dot thumb) from the URL;
    Code:
    Try it.
    I'm back & keeping 'em fingers wet,
    Ronnie Lee
