    Hello fellas,

My fishes are infected with velvet disease and are dying every now and then. I've tried using lotion for white spots and marine salt but they are still dying.

Maybe you guys have posted something about the cure somewhere here but I really need some advises before my entire tank is wiped out now, any suggestion for prevention too??

Now I understand why they called it velvet disease!!!

    Hello Lily,

There's a medication from Sera that works pretty well against velvet infections. You can see it from the box, can't quite remember the name but it states clearly on the box that it fights velvet disease.

As a form of prevention, I usually add some aquarium salt to my tanks. Nowadays I just drop in a piece of large coral chip into the tank. Works like a charm.

Just a little piece of update, my fishes are kicking again and I really got to thank Au for the medication he sold me. I dont know the name of that 'wonder powder' but it sure does wonders!!

Sorry for the late reply Ronnie I am very positive of the disease as velvet because the infected fishes will be ‘powdered’ with gold dust and when they died; their bodies are layered with a film of velvet-liked mucus. Did I get it right?
