it is a flowercan you take a macro pic? if you don't, start reading your manual
most digicams can do some degree of macro.
Dear all,
After reading Hwchoy's thread on the flower of the Red Tiger lotus. I also observed that a flower bud has just grows out from the top of the my tonina crown. I am not to sure if it is a flower bud or a new crown. I will update to all of you when I am confirmed.
P.S: Behine is my new christmas moss wall.
Regards,
Ong Poh San

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Hi hwchoy,
I am shame to say that the photo was already taken in Macro mode.I set my old canon A40 digital camera until a flower icon appeared and tried to shoot the flower. However, when I zoomed it, I couldn't get a sharp photo.
Let see if I can borrow a better digital camera for this purpose.

don't shame don't shame :P
first of all your cam cannot do manual focus. So what you need to do is fully zoom (3×) but do not enable digital zoom, set to macro mode. Your macro focus is 16cm (didn't say max or min) or sugggest your try 16cm then move the cam nearer and farther and see if the cam will focus.
Make sure also to set to superfine (1600×1200) so that you have the most pixels for later cropping.

Poh San,
Nice pic!
Are you using pendant light? My Tonina’s leafs were often attacked by shrimps, do you have this problem? I had given up on this plant.

Hi fc,
I am using combination of 1 x 36W PL and 1 x 18W arcadia light. Reason for this combination was because I didn't want to waste the new arcadia tube when I decided to modify to PL.
Yes, most of the tip of the tonina leaf and crown that are subsmered in the water have turn brown due to the attack of yamato shrimp. Besides that, long furly roots that grows from the bottom half of the stem made the plant looks likes covered with algae. I almost give up this plant when I saw the flower. Anyway, I will cut down the number of my "normal" tonina and broad leaf tonina.![]()

Very impressive. Have you taken photos of the flower since this shot? I would have liked to have seen a picture of it opened up.
Carlos
I borrowed my friend's A80 macro len but it didn't fit into my A40.
Anyway, the bud still looks much the same as in the photo.
