that's their sex organs, if the wild party goes ahead you'd soon have many sporophytes, which are long stalk-like thing called seta bearing the capsule at the end.
you'd go down famous as the first person to try to castrate a moss
Hi all,
Can anyone teach methods of removing the tiny roots which look like BBA growing at the bottom of my christmas.
They all grow at the bottom so dunt think they are BBA which i suspect at first..(have confirm this with NA-Mr Chan)..
Thanks..

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Derric,
You've posted a similar question before

It will be much better if you can show a pic of your moss to us to determine if it's BBA or as what Choy described- their sex organ. If it's the later, don't think there will be any solution .

I dunt have a good Digital camera to take the pics.
Anyone who have this similar problem??
Oh, you mean those little black furry things are the sex organs. I was just clearing a bunch of my Christmas Moss that was tangled with riccia last weekend and thought that it was BBA. So I started pulling out whatever furry stuff I came across
Unfortunately I don't think my digital camera is up to it to take such close ups, but I'll try, so that we can all confirm it isn't BBA.

Actually, those are the 'roots'. The correct term is 'rhizoids'. I think the sex organs are much smaller and are not as abundant as the rhoizoids.Originally Posted by bettarism

Since it is the roots so there is no way to remove it?
i notice some christmas moss of others got no roots or sometimes very small..
is it true that some water parameters will affect it?
