Nonn, your urophthalmoides is TOO BEAUTIFUL I will have to come and scoop 500 pieces  They don't show such coloration in the aquarium at all man.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

BTW, the Encarta I am referring to is the Microsoft Encarta Reference Library and the feature is the Encarta Interactive Atlas.

HI Nonn, have you been to singapore? Not sure what will atttract you to come to singapre? Don't think there is an unique fish or plant here.

As compare to Thailand, with So many exotic/nice plant and fishes.

Choy do not take the 500, left some for breeding.
You can breed them in your pond? hehe
    Cheers.

I didn't see anything erotic about the plants when I was in Bangkok but maybe Nonn wasn't bringing me to the correct places

don't worry TS, Nonn has a VERY huge pond (by our standards) and if you use a bigger net, ONE scoop will net you 200

Hmmm, it must be nice to have a huge pond. Wonder if it has 50meter by 20meter?
I did have about 3 ponds of such size while i was a kid. Have another 2 smaller ponds of 10meter by10meter.

Choy you make me think back of my childhood day. Have to go dig out my old photo to view those ponds again.

Teck Song, I was there yesterday evening with Budak. I thought about buying the $150 piece of driftwood with Taiwan Moss but the price was too much too bear. I already have Tawian Moss in my tanks but I wanted that driftwood so I can take its picture. The shop owner was interested in Downois and rare aquatic plants so I offered a trade but he wasn't interested. I would have happily given him 5 to 6 stalks of Downoi, many fronds of Erect Moss and some genuine Willow Moss for that piece of driftwood but he said he doesn't do trades.

He was generous though and offered to let me take the picture of the driftwood if I bring my camera to his shop. I thought it was a good idea but on second thoughts, I changed my mind. If I take the pic when the drfitwood belongs to him, I will always have to give him credit for the picture. I would very much prefer that the driftwood belongs to me when the picture is taken.

Anyway, it's not a big deal. I'm patient. I have the Taiwan Moss on a piece of driftwood and sooner or later, I will have my own picture.

    Jason, here's the address:

    Mermaid World
Block 443 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10
    #01-1233
    Singapore 560443
    Tel: 9793 9733 & 9003 8383

The owner is a young man named Melvin Lim. The shop's opening hours are rather irregular so its best you call before you visit them. Even if you don't intend to buy anything, the shop is worth a visit as they have many species of aquatic plants for sale.

That may be true, my friend  but it wasn't an ordinary piece of driftwood. It has Taiwan Moss growing on it and its very beautiful. The price may seem a bit ridiculous but it's quite normal for local fish shop owners to charge a bomb when they are selling something's that very rare.

I would say its fair. Monopoly gives the seller the right to charge exhorbitant prices. If you don't believe me, ask Bill Gates  I would also say, that what is worst, is when they refuse to sell. I have many such experiences with fish shop owners. For some silly reasons, they quite often refuse to sell their products. Perhaps its because they believe they can control the market. Before this forum came into existence, fish shops usually don't sell the females of killifish too.

If I have capsuled Java Moss, I think I may sell it to the professor for a thousand dollars. And he would probably pay up happily .

It very common to see people sell moss on driftwood on higher price range of atleast $20 onward. I do said that if i am a serious Hobbist i will pay $150 for that Taiwan Moss as it a very nicely grown. But i have not reach that state yet.

I believe that we will be willing to pay slightly higher price for a good product.

As i have pay $1.8 for the Boraras brigittae. To some it so expensive. but it always out of stock.
