I found a bubblenest with eggs in it from my croaking gourami trio. I did not even know I had a female in there. This morning the eggs have hatched and I do not know what to do! They have been moved to a new container so I can watch them. Right now they are very tiny, probably only about 1-2mm wide.

I have to say I have never bred any fish before and have been looking all over the internet for information on them. So far I have not found much. However, I know you fellows have lots of experience raising fry(yay!) so maybe you can help me.

The fry right now are motionless, is that regular? I was expecting little creatures zig zagging back and forth. Some do show signs of movement, though not too often. I have read that they become free swimming in 5 days, so maybe I am just being too paranoid.

Trichopsis -and Betta- 's fry doesn't move much, they stay still most of the time except when present with food or frighten. Don't worry a thing. They will be a little more active after a week or two.

They will eat small dahnia and/or newly hatched brine shrimp (well rinsed), if you have microworm available use that too.

    Congratulation

This is how I raised my betta fry.
On the first 4 to 5 days after the egg had hatched. The fry will remained sticking to the bubble nest. Some frys will tried to swim but most of them will stays motionless in the nest. I dropped one or two drops of Liquidfry 1 everyday. Most of the frys will become free swimming after one week and that was the time when I switched to baby brine shrimp. Do not overfeed, if you still see BBS after feeding for 1/2 hour, that means that you are feeding too much. Almost 80 % of the frys survived till now and most of them are about 2 cm in length. I didn't use filter and any aeration at all. To keep the water clean, suck out all the rotten or leftover food daily and replenish the water. As my personal experience, try not to disturb th fry too much, the more frequent you change water, shifting tank or use torchlight to shine on them, the more easy they will die.

Thank you for the reassurance. Currently I do not have any live food to use and there are no stores that sell them in my area. I may have to try the liquid food and very fine powdered flake.
