While I'm not Au and I don't know who's selling them on Ebay, the species Simp. delucai comes from a location near the city of Urucuia in Brazil.
Differentiated from Simp. alternatus by having a haphazard pattern in the dorsal fin and a reddish tinge to the dorsal area.
Care is the same for this species like most other Simpsonichthys. If you've kept Simpsonichthys flammeus, then its roughly the same care requirements.

Thanks, I have only kept whitei and constanciae. But I'll give it a go.
whitei and constanciae would be the easiest in the genus in terms of incubation period and fry care, but these come from the coastal regions near Rio de Janeiro.
For delucai, I have to check back on my records. The best way to know how to keep them well in captivity is to always ask the breeder you got them from. Some will share willingly, others will just avoid the issue. Let's hope the person you're getting them from will give you enough tips on the captive care for this species.

Hi David,
I breed my Simp. delucai in the tank as shown. They are easy to breed as the males will not fight for the breeding bowl. I change 90% of the tank water weekly with a teaspoon of salt added.
I'll collect eggs from the bowl every week. The females are ready to lay eggs at 2 months old.
As for raising the fry, I'll use plastic containers 20 X 20 X 10cmh. Each container can rais about 30 fry. The fry will be feed with newly hatched brine shrimps for 2 to 3 weeks thereafter, I'll add some tubifex worms to their diet.
They will be transfer to the tanks when about 1cm or bigger. The female will be ready to lay eggs at 1.5cm and the male would be around 2cm in size.
Hope that these little info helps.![]()
Do feel free to contact me if you need further help since I'm the only person in SG keeping the fish.
Au SL
Indeed Au is the only one keeping these guys in Singapore. I reckon his post should have been pretty informative for you so drop him a note if you need more info on it.
