    Standard 1.5 feet tanks?

    Dear all,

While the recirculating system has it's advantages, the biggest drawback is the control of infections, which is something I don't quite understand since the UV unit is running 24/7 and I've been quite diligent with water changes.

Anyway, to avoid a total wipeout, I've decided to setup another 6 ~ 8 separate dedicated tanks that will house about 2~3 trios of a single species, an otto, 2 cherry shrimps and maybe pygmy cory and some peaceful companions, if the bioload allows.

All tanks will be planted but none will be aerated, no filters or CO2 fed.

    There're 2 x 2 ft tanks I'm using that measures 25"L x 12"W x 14"H and another that's 18"H. I am more inclined towards standard size 1.5 feet tanks, if there's such a thing. That said, any idea who/where/dimensions/price?

This query sounds like it's directed more at local hobbyist, but I'm open to suggestions from anyone.

    Ron,

Nature Aquarium (Balestier/Thomson) is carrying this :

    18"(L)x12"(W)x12"(H) ~ $20 : glass tank with black silicon.

Alternatively, there is also the 5-plan plexiglass(?) tank which comes in 3 sizes - S,M,L. The L size is about 15"(L)x9"(W)x9"(H). Cost varies but cheapest I saw was at Bedok North ~ $11.50.

Zul, thanks! I've seen the NA tanks but price point is somewhat steep, since I'll be getting a few.

The pending tanks will sit in a row, over the corridor drain, hence no '5-Plan' branded tanks either... their glass/plexiglass is too thin/fragile for my liking. Is the Bedok North LFS selling '5-Plan' or ??

If 1.5 ft is not a standard-size tank, I might consider "Ocean Free" 2 footers, which are going for a song at some places (who said a dead 'LouHan craze' isn't good? :wink. These are 18"H and with about 8" of water, these d@mn killies can jump all they want!

    Ron,

The Bedok North LFS should be Darwin Aquarium - located at Blk 84, Bedok North St 4. They are selling all sorts of tanks at quite a cheap price. If you have the time, drop by there.

Anyway, if you can get the 2footers for a song, might as well go for it. I suppose you are arranging the tanks lengthwise along the corridor?

It will be one long row

Zul, I'll probably drop by to Darwin over the weekend, when I have access to transport.

Yes, tanks are lenghtwise, like what you see at Kwek Leong's balcony. I won't be able to fit anything width-wise, as the corridor seems to be shrinking!

    Ronnie,

My wife told me the other day that the Chinese press reported a story about 2 fish shops in Bedok waging an all-out price war against each other. Seems like they are selling everything below cost. Maybe you should go and take a look.

Kwek Leong, I've been likened to a banana... yellow on the outside, white inside, meaning... I'm Mandarin-handicapped!

Afraid I won't get to hear anything about the price war but... there's always email for details

Meanwhile, I know of someone scaling down and might consider those instead.

eh Rashid, I'm not sure how to read this but yes, I'm building up my tank (not yank  ) collection... so by "help", does it mean you have some to clear, are you buying more tanks as well or you're dropping by to "help" setting up
