Hello Andy,

We do see such balls around in Singapore and they are actually made of algae (No idea if its the same algae that is unwanted) but they sure look nice and I heard that they grow pretty slowly. So those really do exists.

These are real. They are also call Marimo Ball. They are from Japan. Do a Google seach and you will find more information on it.
