    Hi all,

Due to a bad bout of 'dunnowat' bacterial infection running loose in my recirculating sytem, I decided to break away and opted for separate raising tanks. Am now testing raising multiple species in a 2-feet ex-sump tank, now placed along the corridor.

Affectionately called 'dump tank', it is bare bottom with low maintenance anubias and java fern.

    '2ft corridor dump tank'

    It's a riot in there, with mostly 1~1.5cm juvenile killies;
16 - Pseudepiplatys annulatus, Asian origin
2 - Simp magnificus 'Itacarambi B7', males only
    9 - Ep. fasciolatus zimiensis (ZII)'Faimah' SL 89 [*1]
    10 - Ap australe EBT 96/27 'Cape Esterias' [*2]
    2 - Terranatos dolichopterus V96/7 [*3]
    2 - Chromaphy splendopleure (SPL) 'Moliwe' [*4]
    5 - Pseudomugil gertrudae, Spotted Blue-eye
4 - juvenile 'Taiwan Fire Shrimp'
    8 - ramhorn snails

There's a batch of 20 odd Aplochelius kirchmayeri (Goa Killie) waiting to join the tank.

The odd mix of bottom & surface feeders keeps shyness at bay and quite effective. Fun to observe during chow time! Due to the 'competition' and bigger space, the young buggers seem to grow faster too! Try it sometime... but not a combo of the same genus, ya?

    [*1] ZII 'Faimah' SL 89
9 in 2ft tank, 3 in round container, 1 sick tank

[*2] AUS EBT 96/27 'Cape Esterias'
    coll: 040 , wet:040409 , trans: 040410=8/040420=1
    2x 1pair in square containers
    10 in 2ft dumptank

    [*3] DOL V96/7
From 3rd wetting, looks like 1 healthy normal pair!!... not still-born or belly-sliders!

    [*4] Chroma SPL Moliwe
    coll: 040225 , wet:040309 , trans: 040310= 2

Re: Mixed killie grow-out 'dump tank'

    Mini update, checked this morning.

16 - Pseudepiplatys annulatus, Asian origin
2 - Simp magnificus 'Itacarambi B7', males coloring up beatifully... looking for females!
    7 - Ep. fasciolatus zimiensis (ZII)'Faimah' SL 89 [*1]
    6 - Ap australe EBT 96/27 'Cape Esterias' [*2]
    2 - Terranatos dolichopterus V96/7 [*3]
    2 - Chromaphy splendopleure (SPL) 'Moliwe' [*4]
    5 - Pseudomugil gertrudae, Spotted Blue-eye
    10 - Aplochelius kirchmayeri juvenile
2 - juvenile 'Taiwan Fire Shrimp'
    8 - ramhorn snails

    [*1] ZII 'Faimah' SL 89
7 in 2ft tank, 3 in round container (the patient in sick tank didn't make it)
Lost 2 ZII during accidental tank draining **

[*2] AUS EBT 96/27 'Cape Esterias'
    2x 1pair in square containers
    6 in 2ft dumptank (1 dead, 1 culled, 2 accident)

    [*3] DOL 'V96/7'
NOT a pair... 'so called female' was a slow developing male

    [*4] Chroma SPL 'Moliwe'
    Could be ONE PAIR!

** Tank has bulkhead at bottom right of tank, with a drainage air-line tubing, tucked behind tank above water level, until I could fit a shut valve. The tube slipped and drained the tank to 1" of water. A few juvenile fishes & shrimps were trapped in a pot of hybrid echinodorus and were semi-dehydrated when I realized it
I'm back & keeping 'em fingers wet,
