    Hi all,

I have not posted in this sub-forum, but think this might interest some of you.

I was at Times bookshop yesterday. The magazine Tropical Fish Hobbyist (I think it is the most current edition) is featuring killies. Many pages are dedicated to discussing certain species and also the breeding of killies.

The content should be useful to beginners. However, I am not sure how much value it is to the experienced hobbyist. Afterall, I have not tried killies myself.

Hope this helps some of you!

Hello Yew Kiat, its been a long time. How are your fishes?

About the TFH May 2004 issue, I have it myself. There's not much information in it for the more seasoned killie-keepers but there is still useful information for newbies/novices to the hobby. There is however, an informative article on how to create a multi-rack tank system. I would say that its worth its price just because it has so many wonderful pictures of killies.

A friend who lives in the USA sent me the magazine. It has many beautiful pictures of Killies and interesting articles too but what amazed me is the story of a Koi named Hanako.

Seems like Hanako, the Koi which belong to a Japanese Dr Komei Koshihara is one long life fish. Dr Komei was told by his aged grandmother that she had been told as a bride by her mother-in-law that the fish had been handed down in the family and needed to be well cared for properly. Imagine so many generations taking care of a fish

Anyway, they ran a scientific check and after several months of careful micro-photographic analysis of Hanako's scales, they discovered that the fish is actually 217 years old

Hanako died on the 17th of July 1977. What an amazing fish!!

I also saw the TFH issue. It is what inspired me to get (back) into killies again, after a 30 year absence.
