Been thinking for quite awhile to rescape my 44gallon tank. I would like to reuse my exisiting plants for the new theme.

The plants includes the Mayaca fluviatilis, Micranthem. micranthemoides, Ludwigia sp., Tonina sp., Java moss, x'mas moss, Elatine triandra, and Hottonia inflate.

I decided to go for a island concept since I have not really do it before.

First, the fish and plants were removed from the tank, the tank was drained and gravel re-sloped. Next, the bogwoods were placed to formed the outline of the 'island'.

After finished planting and water refilled, the tank looked a bit cloudy. The fish were put back to the tank after 3 hrs in a pail. The lights were set for 6hrs daily for the first 4 days and the CO2 run the same timing with the lights.

This the tank pic on the 3rd day. The water had cleared.

The plants are showing some new growth especially the Elatine triandra.
However, the Tonina sp (normal leaf) is melting and there are some hair algae growing on the moss. The hair algae is removed by hand.

Day 5, perform 30% water changed. Added 30 yamatos.
The lights is increased to 8 hrs daily. Added 15ml of TMG and 4g of K2SO4.

It is an matured tank, the fish was removed during the rescaping. I am using the same gravel, same filter. Everything was done in 3 hours.
