just bought one from petmart...
in Step 3, it says to add the reagent drop by drop: counting the drops: until the colour changes from blue to yellow-orange.
but my solution was never BLUE in the first place?
could there be something wrong with the kit? or maybe i didn't follow the instructions correctly?

thanks bclee... but is this good or bad?
Try to go for at least KH 2 or 3. That is to prevent pH crash.

my solution only turns a noticeable yellow-orange after about 2-3 drops... does this mean my kH is about there? even when it never turn blue at all?
I prefer the Sera test kit range...JBL tried before...never like it.
Cheers!

It is alright. When you have enough KH, you will see blue first. The color will intensify with more drops because you are dripping more indicator into the water with each drop. It is normal.

Should see blue first. You can test it out on baking soda solution.

Juggler's tanks
tested on baking soda... there IS a very slight blue colouring... almost unnoticeable from the top view...
i guess my kit & tank is alright... thanks guys!
how different is the Sera kit?
Sera is one of the best kits so far... same for other kits such as PO4 & NO3.
The colour is quite distinct on the first drop.

actually i bought the Sera NO3 before too but found it kind of complicated and changed it for a JBL kit...![]()
I have both the JBL and Sera NO3 kits. Other then the colours, the steps are the same. Unless JBL has changed theirs.
