    Guys,

A wihile ago heard from keehoe that we can mix buttermilk with moss and have it grow on wood. And doing some research on the net found up that not only buttermilk can do but also stale beer.

To grow your moss on wood/brick emerse surface:

    1. Mix moss, water and buttermilk or plain yogurt in a blender.
    2. Pour or "paint" the mixture on the surface areas for the moss to grow.
    3. Mist/Spray the surface a few times a day.

The moss will have to pre-cut or else it jam your blender. :-(

    Check up this link

But only certain moss like Polytrichum var. can grow in garden.

I think would be easier if you use the dried moss. It should spring to live when the condition is right. With dried moss, it is not as easy to jamm the blender as it is not as tough.

I started researching on this because i would like to make a beautiful christmas moss wall like Loh did. Poor me do not have enough Chrismass moss. Have tried grow on soil and under strong sun. But that doesn't work well.

    I am still trying ..................

Cold water helps alot as does good amount of CO2 and nutrients. If propagation is the aim here, you might consider doing it in a mini-tank without critters (just make sure you don't grow mosquitoes instead). Target for around 2.5wpg, dose with the estimative index method 3x a week coupled with weekly 50% water changes and crank the hell out of the CO2 (add more and more till you get no good no plant response. Pearling is the key...add till you no longer see an increase in the amount of pearling. O2 production is a sign of growth in aquatic plants. The more carbon fixed, the more O2 produced.)
