You can get fry/eggs from aquabid.com but be very careful of who you deal with. Fry/eggs don't come as cheap as it should be but I believe some of us will send you some egg for free.Originally Posted by amitava

Amitava,
welcome to the forum. What kind of killies are you looking at and what kind of setup are you doing?

Hello Amitava
I'm busy looking for a link to an aquarium club in India but it looks like I'm not going to find it... In the mean time you can perhaps contact Tony Pinto (tpinto at hotmail.com) who was collecting killifish in India not so long ago and should have some contacts for you.

Ha! I spoke too soon. Here is the link:

Go see the gallery, click freshwater fishes and the 1st pick is of a killifish.
I'm sure if you ask around you will find people with killies.
If you have to buy eggs from Aquabid then Songgang (sg8610 at yahoo.com.cn) is pretty reliable.
You may also want to go visit the trading section of this forum where there are many other good people who can help.

Madan is out of station now. He will be comming around march.
I am making a 4'/2'/2' all glass tank for the killifish setup. It will be a heavily planted tank. For lighting I will use 2 MH bulb of 70 watt each.
Filtration will be done with a eheim 2217.
Please suggest what killifishes would be most suitable for this type of setup. I am new into killifish and I know that you guys will surely help me out.
anything else you want to know? Please ask me.

Amitava,
If it's your first time with Killifish, I would suggest you start with the Aphyosemion australes aka Lyretails. I don't pick eggs anymore or I wouldn't mind sending some to you. I can't remember if I gave Madan any eggs when he was in Singapore but maybe you should check with the guys who came with him. People like Betta, Ravi, etc.
By the way, I know Madan was out at sea when the tsunami struck. Someone said his ship was somewhere around the Middle East. Have you heard from Madan recently? Is he safe? Please let me know.

I don't think now is the time to send stuff to India. There transport facilities are most likely going to be overwhelmed with tasks and the post will probably be a low priority.
Gees you guys musnt have much restricion as too what you bring into the country, Here we have to setup a qaurintine fasility for any fish coming into New Zealand. The qaurintine facility has to be approved by MAF and then we need permits etc. Once we've found a supplier over seas and pay for fish and frieght, and the fish arrive, they go into the qaurintine facility and then we have to pay for 2 MAF vet checks along with 3 supurvisor checks, and they have to stay in qaurintine between 6-8 weeks. at which point MAF can decide wether or not your fish live, if not they are killed accordingly and you just spent alot $$ for nothing. By the end of all that you have spent nearly 10k!
