    Hi ,

I don't keep any shrimps but am curious if you have a mixture in the same tank (say cherry , malayan, yamato...), won't they cross-breed ?

    Cheers

Some do, but I know for sure the yamato won't cross breed. I remember cherries cross with something, but for the life of me I can't remember it.

my cherries seem to breed true. tigers appear to hybridise with bees.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

That's interesting. That means its preferable to have 1 breed in a tank otherwise you get 'cross-breed' instead of 'pure breed' loh?
If I want to keep cherry n CR shrimps, maybe can get some unexpected results?

It's perferable for me. There are people who like mixtures though.
