Instead of modifying, why don't you just buy one of those cheap single FL tube slim profile light sets to supplement. Probably cheaper.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

i have no more space already []
my fans also cant attach properly as no more space.. so cant add more.. so if FL will work better than PL im willing to modify
but now im still not sure if FL is better than PL so asking for some views..

    oh yes my tank is a 2.5ft X 2ft X 1.5FT

Why don't you place your pl (2ft) across your width rather than the length of the tank since your tank is 2ft wide.

How is your PL light arrangment, side by sied? What you could be is just position a tube to one end and the other to the other end

This way it will help cover your coners. If you're going to convert to FLs you're goig to have trouble fitting 4X18W over your tank since you're saying tat you have space limittations.
    Cheers!!

FL for 2ft the most is 20W....the 36W is only available at 4ft.

I have 2.5ft tanks and I DIY the lighting using PL lights placed end to end. Total length is about 35" -- longer than 2.5ft. And there's no dark corners. I made 2 sets and so I get 144W total. Definitely not as elegant as commercial ones but it works fine for me.
