    Hello everybody, I'm new here.

I live in Bangkok, Thailand and have seen the exact African killi pictured above offered here. However, a killi dealer here told me that some killies will not breed here because it's just too hot.

I'm especially interested in any other keepers living in the tropics. Is it possible to breed these Nothos in Thailand?

    Thanks,

    Michael

Hello there chalcosoma (what's your name? )

Welcome to the forum. It is possible to breed these Nothos in Thailand. The climate is alright for notho keeping. There's at least one Notho breeder in Thailand.

What that killie dealer told you was just to prevent you from trying to spawn them yourself.

    Hi Michael,

    welcome to the forum.

If the dealer said "some killies will not breed here because it is too hot", he might be saying the truth as he can be making a general statement as some African killies comes from the cool highlands and forested areas.

However, like what Jianyang said, nothos can make it in the weather here. The above is a photo of the Nothobranchius rachovii. What species of killies excite you?

    Hi Michael,

    Welcome!

I just came back from Bangkok for my hoildays and I also met up with a fellow hobbyist living in Bangkok and I'e passed a few bags of the Simps.. eggs to her :P

There are actually a fair group of people breeding killifish in Thailand. Just that most of them are reluctant to sell pairs to locals. I'm not so sure what's the reason behind.... Maybe for $$$...

I've saw some Nothobranchius males selling at the weekend market when I'm there. My observation shows that the Nothobranchius group can easily adapt to the enviroment and water conditions in Bangkok very well. That's why there are alot of successful cases in Thailand on the Nothos.
