Simple answer: Yes![]()
Ofcourse it will depend on the way your tank is set up (size, cover etc.) and the particular pairs you have.
I currently have australe Chocolate and australe Gold in group situations.

Simple answer not so simple.
I wasn't sure if the yes was to being able to be kept together in several pairs or if the yes referred to 'will they fight'
I would say they can be kept in several pairs, males will often show off to each other and sometimes chase each other but that is normal and no real damage comes from this. I think that there should be several males rather than just 2 if you plan on keeping them together.
Also given that, as stated. The tank size should be a decent size and provide some type of cover.
Having read my post it is not clear to which question I am answering Yes!!! (Thanks Henry!)
Answer is yes to both really!!!![]()
Yes you can keep a number of pairs together.
and, Yes males will fight, though in most part it will be only showing off to each other.
Like Henry says it is better to have more than two males. Though even that sometimes works.

Well I put another pair into my aquarium.
![]()
It is 10 gallon, fairly well planted & houses 10 pygmy cory's....Corydoras Pygmaeus ( The smallest cats at 1.5 cm average length !! ) + 3 Corydoras Sodalis .
All 4 Australe's seem VERY happy, always showing off, and are feeding well on live bloodworm & live brine shrimp although are slow to eat flake foods.
I'm very pleased with the results......It's just a shame that I havn't got a bigger aquarium so i could put some more in.![]()
Or maybe i CAN stretch a larger aquarium into the room !!![]()
