IMHO, 'Aquarium Strain' is acceptable because it is still an australe, just don't tag any 'strain' or phenotype to the fish in question.

After a few generations, I start to realise that the australes don't throw out true orange nor chocolate and eventually after discussing with Ronnie, we decided to discard all our breeding stocks.
You may have gotten the fish from me before we made our discission to put a stop the australes. The very last lot I got from locally also throw out different colours forms which in fact it suppose to be the gold strain.![]()
My suggestion you is refrain from using the image even to represent an aquarium strain as it'll invite unnecessary issues on the fish.
I've bought in a new lot of orange which I'm working on it now to see how stable is the offspring in terms of their colouring. If everything is fine, the fish will be available to local hobbyists in a few months' time.

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

This is very odd. The only variation the gold should throw is spotless... Do you have any pics of the fish? Can you describe the variations? The very last lot I got from locally also throw out different colours forms which in fact it suppose to be the gold strain.
If it is simple gold/brown then yes, you had a mixed strain but if they all looked gold then they should of all produced golds. Unless you had a brown female...
