OKay here is what I want to do: I want to have hornwort set aside with little maintenance as possible as time comes when I need to put it into my show tank to combat with extra nutrients. I have plenty of empty tanks in my backyard but when I store hornwort in there, they always seem to die out. Should I just dose in mass nutrients? I just want a tank of hornwort, no filter, lighting, etc, and not care for it and have it remain living so I can call upon it at any given time. Anybody do this?

    Regards,
    Dennis

What hornwort usually needs is aged water. If you put them in fresh water, they rot off very quickly.

Set up one tank with some aged water, dose it with some nutrients, and leave it in a spot that gets some shaded sunlight. If the weather gets too warm, they will also rot off and die.

Given aged water that's pretty cool in temperature, they grow like weeds. All they need is a booster of nutrients and some form of sunlight.

Ron can attest to this. He once had a 4 foot tank full of hornwort.

I got the aged water part correct. I had dirty old mucky water I tossed it in and it cleared up the very next day. Guess I had to get off my *** and dose some. Thanks Jianyang!
