Rescaping a planted tank

Hi to all,

Need advice regarding rescaping of planted tanks.

1. Do u need to remove all fishes before rescaping
2. If its not possible to remove the fishes, is there anyway to minimise the base fert from seeping into the water when the plants are uprooted?
3. Need to change how much of water after rescaping?

whether to remove all the fishes, depends greatly on the extend of rescaping. Best is to uproot all the plants, remove the fishes or you can drain as much water as possible then remove the fishes.

to minimize seepage, just another a layer of clean gravel after u are done

water change can range of 50%-75%, i prefer to drain more

Actually i don't think i'll be able to fish all the fishes out of my tank without stirring a storm which might just do more harm.

I wanted to remove all the Vallisneria spiralis that has been growing everywhere. I've tried removing some of them before and ended up pulling alot of dirt from the gravel in the process.

Think will have to change more water after the rescaping. By the way, can I add water direct from the tap and then add conditioner like genesis into it? Just wondering if the genesis will rid the chlorine before it harms the fishes... ?

add the conditioner in during or after the topup is fine. You should get a bigger net for catching your fishes. I prefer draining as low as possible before catching them out
