    Pray.

Raising in pairs sometimes helps but I find that I get 2 pr as often as I get 2 of the same gender per tub. I have never had a major problem with rachovii gender ratios. I've almost always got about 50/50... I don't know what your problem is... Maybe try a larger hatch next time? Or a smaller group. Try raising them in water from a tank with males already in it.

If worst come to worst I can sell you some eggs.:-)

Oh, try harder water. I have 4 males and 5 female Beira in my hard Pisa tap.

    Regards

    Hi keehoe,

Why don't you pass one to me? I've gotten 2 females which is filled with roe and dying to spawn!

I don't mind pay for it.

    Cheers,

    Hi Kho,

From the 2nd pic, I'm wondering if the fish is showing abit of a flared gill.

Do you remember those N. melanospilus I took from you? Well, the females showed the same sign, the fins were at times clampy and the gills were slightly flared and inflammed. They too, were lethargic and had a mild velvet infestation.

I suspect they possibly had a gill infection, which could either be gill flukes or velvet itself.

If I have time, I'll drop by at your place later tonight. But you may want to adminster some treatment prior to that. Try Sera Costapur which contains formaldehyde, and this can be effective against several forms of ectparasites. Aerate the tank gently to improve the dissolved oxygen concentration in there, as formaldehyde can be an oxygen sapper.

I did that to the melanospilus trio and they gotten cured after 4-5 days. They're prolific right now.

    Cheers,

    Kenny

    Hey fellas,

I've some good news for you. I transferred my N. rachovii fry to a bigger tank last night and I have quite a good ratio of males to females. In fact, it's about equal. So Kenny, Kee Hoe and Kho, if you want them, come and get it. Kenny, I have another tray of fry (about 20) for you but considering your dismal record in raising fry, I think it's better if you take the adults

I'm keeping another 2 females for Esther who only have 2 males from the batch of eggs I gave her a couple of months ago. I also intend to give a trio to Selena who's dying for the N. rachovii, last time I heard. For some reason or another, the 2 batches of eggs I gave her failed to produce any fry.

I hope with these offers, I'm doing my job as species co-ordinator for the N. rachovii. If you take the fish, please don't forget that I expect you to keep them going for a year at least.

    Hobbit,

Beira98 incubation lag range from 16 to 36 weeks but I believe it takes only 4-5 weeks in our condition cause the the melanospilus hatch after 3 weeks.

After the last meet up with Au and the rest I am very interested to hatch the melanospilus eggs and see if I could get the 1st batch of fry.

I am out of tanks space, so if you want to try the fry let me know.

    Best Regards
