    Hi folks,
When a fellow forumer went holidaying with his family, I became the nanny for "a few" species, including sub-adult Austrolebias nigripinnis "Villa Soriano".

Nothing was said about not collecting eggs... so here's my 'dividend'

What puzzles me though, is the big difference in grow-out size of the Austrolebias. The 2 tubs shown, is what I sorted out last night but the entire brood was originally raised in the same tank, with same diet and water changes.

I don't have any adult pics to show for now but further updates will be dumped here.

My question is; is this typical of annual species and if so, besides sorting, what do you do about it?
I'm back & keeping 'em fingers wet,
    Ronnie Lee

    Hi Ronnie,

First of all, this usually happens to most of the adults. Those which the fittest lot will grow much faster than the rest. Due to the fact that they have a short lifespan, they need to reach adulthood fast to start to get the next generation ready before their temporary pool dries up. Usually the older will also prey on the small and weaker siblings to reduce competition on food source.

Being a good nanny, that's your rewards in return. Good luck

Attached is one or the father among the whole lot.:P

    Au SL
