Has anyone tried the above mentioned dried food for their killies? How good is the food in term of growth rate as compare to live food and productivity of the fish after eat this food. Do all killiefishs accepting them?

More information can be found here:http://www.killifish.f9.co.uk/Killif...ried_foods.htm

Anyway, I will be ordering a small amount to try out. If it is really good, maybe I can organise a mass ordering of the food.

    Regards,

I think Tyrone has used the granular food shown in the link. Perhaps he would be better suited to answering your queries.

I have used the granular food for my ANN & PLA and found that the fish like it and they show excellent colour and growth rates.

Compared to the usual LFS flake food I find it to be far superior.

Tim deals directly with the mill that produces it so he always has very fresh
    stock for sale.

Tim is very prompt on filling orders and I usually get mine within 3 days of him sending it from the UK to US.

I bought some earlier. In my opinion it is better than commercially available flake food.
However, I think you have to introduce the food relatively early to your fish in order to get it accepted,
And I still believe live food is better.

That I can agree with Erik.

Judging by some responses I've seen here and in other places, it seems the food sold by Tim is of high quality and contains strong attractant properties. However, I wonder if it would be fed upon by finicky killifish.

    Al,
Besides daily feeding of livefoods, I use what's considered 'premium grade' from various manufacturors but ANNs don't always take to these.

What's the grit size that ANNs will readily consume?

Poh San, when you're ready to make your order, let me know. I'm game.

The food is great stuff. Everything I have tried to feed it to eat it. This included 3 week old N. furzeri and some old stubborn Riv. xiphidius.

The fish grow and spawn well on the food.

I have no complaints and can (with clear conscience) suggest it to anyone.

    Poh San,
As per our phone discussion, you can list out my order for "Timmy's Food" and those who are interested can join in and share Air shipping cost.

I was too distracted during the call... doing water changes, so I can't recall exactly what I ordered. Appreciate if you can post it here [even if it's just for my reference]

BTW, I've read lots of favorable comments regarding Tim's stuff, so I'll just jump right in... I just hope my ANNs love the stuff

Here is the master ordering list, currency in United Kingdom Pounds. Take note that shipping charge is not included. Refer to site to get a rough estimate of the shipping. :-

When you all get this food -- can you test it on some brine shrimp (and let me know)? I find it curious that the website lists it having copper and yet a food for shrimp (albeit small amount of copper). I try to avoid foods that list copper in it for my shrimp, but I'm intrigued by all the good things I hear about this food. If it can be fed to brine shrimp, it should be fine for freshwater algae eating shrimp too, I would suspect.
    Thanks in advance!

Deborah, I suspect that it will work as the copper content might not be in sufficient concentration to harm inverts. If my cherry shrimps suddenly belly up, I'll give ya a holler

FWIW, some homes in SG have copper pipes for plumbing and there aren't any issue with that. Ok... maybe not yet. Nevertheless, I'll test-run the food and post an unbiased observation.

Kho, what I ordered should cover young fry to sub-adults but if I need any intermediate sizes, I'll give you a buzz. Thanks anyway.

    Ron

My first order from Tim consisted of fry sized and 0.3-0.5 sized food.
I combined the different sizes so that the adults and fry in my planted tanks all get a size they will consume. As you well know ANN like small food like BBS and I find them eating both sizes with ease.

I have to stress that I feed both BBS and Tim's food to my fish.....with the use of live and prepared foods they get the benefit of live along with a quality prepared food......best of both worlds.

Tim's shipping charges are very reasonable and I am sure that if someone wishes to place a combined order he will respond promptly with the cost of shipping for the order. The use of PayPal set to Pounds Sterling will give you the exact cost of the transaction immediately. Just get the total cost from Tim and send it by PayPal followed by a email to him listing the contents of the required food sizes and quanity.

    Al,
It's strange but your post didn't appear in 'full' on screen. I read the PayPal bit only after I quoted to reply.

I'm a strong advocate for varied live foods but my main concern is for the ANNs. If they eat this stuff like there's no tomorrow, my other killies won't give me any problem.

    Folks,
Combined shipping have it's advantage, especially savings in freight charges, so those who're sitting on fences can get off their butts and hop onboard.
