    Hi folks

Just show you somthing from a species which I appreciate a lot. Easy to keep, and easy to breed.

A funny thing about the pictures:
I use normally a phototank with large gravel, and this evening the meaning was taking som "profilpicture" from the male and female, but that was impossible, because they started immediately to spawn in the gravel, so i was sitting there with my camera waiting till they were fisnish, and took some shots from the spawn.
After 2 1/2 hours they weren't finis, so i had to separate them so i could finish
today I have 20 youngsters from this spawn.

So I have stopped using mopps to this species, just large gravel which they love spawning in.

    Female

    Spawn 1

    Spawn 2

ps this photo won 1 price in a photo contest in Norway:

you are one lucky fella. I think the female is full of eggs and so horny, anything goes!

    That is one fetching Rivulus.

    I must have some...

How are the xiphidius doing? Got any pictures of them? My male is stunning but I'm yet to get any good eggs.:-(

WOW! What have you been feeding them, Svein? For someone who love to breed fishes, I'm gonna have a tough time sleeping tonight... thinking of that plumb female

Nice work and great pics! Keep it up!

BTW, how mature are those Rivilus? Just received a pair of Riv. agilae from Zul for backup ('Mont de Maheury', I think). They're now in a bare-bottom tank with ferns and mops. I won't attempt coarse gravel for now since that tank is partitioned into three; Riv agilae, Simp magnificus and one empty (maybe for Fp fallax)
I'm back & keeping 'em fingers wet,

I'm agree, and the Rivulus species becomes more and more important for me, and wait til you see Rivulus rubripuntatus, for me is one of the most beautiful fish I have, strong "cigar" body with rounded fins, and just grey
(female red tale with rivulus spot)

I will try to collect some eggs and send you. my xiphidus work quite well, but aren't very productive.

    Ron:
I feeding them with lot of love Seriously i feed them with fruit flies, moina, ox heart, frozen blood worms and live clear worms. I never use dry food.

About maturing, quite fast i think
ps Hope you have slept well when you reading this

A very good camera and did you use any mirco len and what type of flash you are using?

I am thinking of investing into E350D or the 20D.

    Cheers

if you have a limited budget, suggest to find a good second hand DSLR (lots of D70 and 10D coming on the market) and spend the rest of the money on lenses.

I'm going to take us off track for a bit and ask: how are you maintaining them? I'm only getting bad eggs it seems. The water is soft, acidic. Lighting is dim. Temp about 23°C. Feeding is bbs and Tim Addis's wonder food. The female is nice and fat and lays 1 or 2 eggs perday. The male doesn't seem to do his job...

I think I have quite the same conditions as you; soft water with ph between 4.5 - 5. My temperature is however a little bit higher about 25 - 26 degree (my room is hot )

i feed them with bbs, fruit flies, ox heart and live and frozen worms. I don't use any dry food.
    I think it's a difficult species

    Svein
