    Hi all,

Just to share some pictures of this beautiful fish. Not sure if I get the sexes correct(The differences are the black line/lines on its tail). At least managed to collect some eggs .

    Jian Yang,

Is that how I shoud write its full name?

    Female

    Male

    definitely do not use "sp"
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Those are nice shots of the Aphyolebias rubrocaudatus 153 but I suspect both pics are of males. A picture of a female can be found here: http://gonewild.net/peru/020/020.html .

    Tyrone,

I can't open your link. But from the this, it look like 152 . I'm very sure I got females out of the 6 in the tank because of the eggs collected.

The link has been fixed. All the fish are the same species and differ only in respect to the colour of the males (or so it appears). The females should not have colour in the tail.

Gan, the full species name including code data is this:

Aphyolebias rubrocaudatus "Cocha Fundo Shape" Location 153 (or Loc. 153) for short. Otherwise just use Aphyolebias sp. "153".

Lance Peck just updated the locality data for the different variants of rubrocaudatus.

Very beautiful fish Gan but the gender is boggling. I know you told me that you collected eggs but Aphyolebias females shouldn't have any colour in the tail. Still, the main point is there's eggs.

I forgot to add, this 153 occurs in the same area as Moema quiii. It also happens to be the main prey for the quiii.
