    Hello everyone.
I'm new to the forum but not new to killies. =)
Just want to get to know other hobbyist and what type of killis they keep.

So... what types of killies do you keep?

As for me, you can view my fish/egg list at
    http://www.geocities.com/dlilazndude

I also take pictures of my fishes but I don't have any accessible at the moment.

    Welcome Henry,

That's a really impressive fish list!. You can find out what is currently being kept in SG in the fish census that is being maintained in the "Notice Board" just above this killies category. It is a "sticky" thread near the start.

A few of us, as foreigners, have tried to keep an eye on the census and we should get together BAKA shipments of new species they don't have, to exchange for stuff they have there.

International mail prohibits shipment of "animals" dead or alive, so we need to send enough stuff at one time to pay for the FedEx or UPS charges. Those are a lot less than commercial air freight, but much more than mail. WE must also ship to one in SG with proper import papers.

I'm just sending an abandonment notice to the F&WL inspector at SFO so they can destroy six nice Fp. filamentosum that were seized by customs. They have worked with me to find a legal way to let the fish live, but there is no way once it has been determined that the law was violated.

All boxes are now opened from Singapore, since the aborted attempt by Al Kaida to sabotage US vessels visiting there.

The inspector doesn't like it any more than I do, but like all bureaucracies, process is all important, and outcomes are not.

If and when I can get to the bay area, again, I'd like to discuss this with you, and tell you of some fish you have that I, too, covet. The infrequent meetings of BAKA have been in conflict with my schedule, and the mountain passes will soon be closed, so who knows when it will be?

By the way, the powers that be, on this site, like it if you add your real name to your sig line, so it appears on all your messages. They discourage use of nicknames unless you are a fugitive or something that must stay anonymous.

    Re: New Here

Welcome to our cozy little corner, Henry.

The Killifish Census 2005 is a collective compilation of species maintained by killie-keepers in Singapore. It also list those that no longer exist on our shores and are marked "EX".
I'm back & keeping 'em fingers wet,

Hey Wright, I don't believe I have ever met you at the BAKA meets but I have seen you in the mailing list. I'm one of the newer members, been in the club for about 2 years and I believe that I am the youngest. =)

From the list, I have a few that I've bred and kept and some that are recently new to my possession. I got the N. Korthausae and N. Kilomberoensis just 2 weeks ago from Jim Fong. I also go a pr of N. Guentheri which is a specie that I've kept before and let go of, from the PSKA trade along with some bags of notho eggs. I just recently obtained the F. Fallax and S. Etzeli at the BAKA meeting last Saturday.

I would say that I have kept around 50+ species altogether. I had quite a few that I started out with and with tanks all over the house. It became quite inconvenient. I started letting go of some of the species I kept for awhile... until I got of those shelves from Home Depot where I placed some of my tanks on. I got that shelf on Aug. 22, 2005 and now I can't get enough fishes! My list pretty much doubled afterwards. I just need another shelf now.

BTW, I was going to leave my name at the end of the message but I thought I had placed it in the signature and I didn't want it to be redundant. After the post, I found out that I had changed my signature...

    Thanks Ronnie,

Is it just me or is the census list out of place?
I see the boxes and words and X's just anywhere on the page.

So, how do you keep track of which species are in Singapore or are those list compiled from different killifish keepers that you know?

The list represents the species that are being kept in Singapore or were once kept here. Almost every Singaporean who's serious about Killies is a user in this forum so it's quite easy for our census-keeper, Jianyang to keep track.

Welcome to the forum, Henry. It's good to know that BAKA has young hobbyists in its membership and not just old fogeys like Wright

You seem to keep an extensive list of Killies. I wonder how you cope. Show us some pictures of your breeding room. We will be delighted to see them.

    I don't really have a room -.-
I am working on it though. I am still attending college right now so I live at home with my parents. Finally had them agree to allow me to add a shelf into one of the living rooms, I will add another one later...
It is a little mess and I'll take pictures when I have everything setup and it is worth showing. =)
In the meantime, I'll work on the pictures of the fishes.

Although I'd love to see pictures of everybody's fishrooms if they have any. That would give me some ideas on how to set up mine.

I am just getting everything situated. I don't know how I am going to manage all the fishes yet, but I'll figure it out along the way. Some species of Nothos are just bags of eggs right now, so I don't have to worry about them for another month or two. The others are in 2.5-10g tanks set up to breed or raise.

Right now I just want more tanks... and FISH! =)
