What is the true colour of Java Moss, light green or dark green? I have seen some in planted tanks, and the java moss sometimes light green and sometimes dark green

    Thanks

Is it difficult to keep java moss? Most of mine is light yellow now, but my hornwart is still booming, so my conclusion is java moss is difficult to keep.

Lower the temperature of your tank, you'll find that it helps. Keep it below 28 degrees.

get a fan or chiller will do. chiller not cheap, so if ur tank is small, get fan enough already. just hang it on top of the tank and blow the surface of the water.

Brown is not a color of the moss. No such thing as brown moss.

Brown means that the portion of the moss is dying....

You probably need to up your CO2. Moss need plenty of that.

Ya. mine also found that some of the moss below are turning brown.
i cant find out whether it is dying or the dirt cover on top of it?
is it the fish drop and the dirt that drop on top of the moss will cover it from lighting and make it dying? how to clean those dirt?

i thought moss need high light and low temp only? it need high co2 also?

if the moss is growing...it will outgrow any dirt on it. You should see tiny green shoots at the tip of the moss everyday. If not, chances are the brown part is dying moss.

Those plants expert correct me if I am wrong...if you have strong lighting, you must increase co2 and ferts proportionally...else algae will occur. If you are growing the moss in low lighting, you don't need high co2.

But some mosses needs high lighting...like erect, stringy moss. These will be difficult moss to grow.

    Hann,
There are tiny aquarium fans (like computer fans) that people use to cool the water down. You don't use those household fans for blowing people...that will cost you alot of money to keep it running when your lights are on. You can also DIY it if you are any electronic whiz. Fairly simple really, look for posts that discuss this.
