Unknown moss from Rock Creek in the Sierras.
Hi,
Go to my gallery page for some feeble attempts to show the moss I collected last Friday. For something not moving, it sure was hard to get it right.
It was collected at somewhere around an elevation of 9000-10,000 ft. from a water-splashed rock. It's from Rock Creek, just below Rock Creek Lake in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. I would have taken less, but the whole thing came off in my hand when I tried to lift a little. It sat in a plastic bag in my cooler for a few days until I got around to dunking it. The sudden change from emersed to immersed may be what caused the white tips on all branches. Sitting in the dark could be involved, though.
When all are tired of it, I'll replace with some flower pics I took on that hike.
