In reality, the only effects I did on Bill's image was to blur out the background which was disturbing the focus on the fish, and editing the colour of the eye to remove the white part that was left by the flash I think.

Other than that I only sharpened the image a little and did no other colour enhancing. Frankly speaking, I feel that tweaking an image a little to remove unwanted stains or specks of dust does justice to the beauty of the fish.

Its not so much of a cosmetic job but if it makes my fishies look as beautiful as the way I see them in real life, then by all means I'll do it.

Bill, I tweaked the image so that it could come close to the colours shown on Tony's pic. I think I did justice to your Mundemba.

Jianyang, I LIKE what you did to my pic. By blurring the
background is where KL says it looks like the fish is superimposed, I guess. But the fish's color is extremely close to what I see every day! Perhaps by blacking out the background, making it a specimen photo, would be more to KL's liking. Or leaving it alone, warts and all...

Yup you're right it does look superimposed, I could do another tweak however and it won't look superimposed.

Blacking out the background won't be a good idea since the colours are not as vibrant. I could cut out the fish and superimpose it on a black layer but it won't come out as nice unless the edges of the fish kinda blur off in a slight gradient into the black. I could do that though, if you like.

I don't like warts. Makes my fishies look ugly.

I wouldn't want you to go against the grain of your artistic tendencies
We can look upon it that KL is just being pic-ky

Works fine for me, but maybe not the best link for objectivity. Check out:

BTW, you may notice that the 10X+ zoom lacks any Image Stabilization.

You don't need IS if you have an ISO of 800 or 1600 as the shutter speed is more than fast enough to compensate.

Just a huge saving on batteries.

In the interest of fairness and full disclosure, I was once a consultant to Fuji Photo Film of Japan I designed the autofocus system for their line of film cameras. No connection for about 10 years, tho.

Also to be fair, I think the lens of the s9000 is way too slow, particularly at full tele zoom. Takes away the advantage of high ISO.

That's for sure! IS has helped me a lot. I'd have to
use a tripod with my old camera to come anywhere
    close!

I can't open the link you posted, either. Wonder what's
wrong with me durn 'puter. Probably needs a new owner
    to make it work
