    Greetings

I have a question or 2 about breeding this species. I have about 12 of these fish in a small 2 foot planted tank with a peat substrate. 3 Of these fish are females. I would like to take the 3 females and put them with one male and see if they have some steaming hot sex!

I was thinking of separating them into a small breeder net that will hang inside the same tank. Will this work I do I need to separate them completely? Obviously when the young are born I will separate into another grow out tank but for breeding purposes will the above method work?

Many thanks for any advice offered.
    Kind Regards
    Cameron

Welcome Cameron James (which is your 'last name'?)

You're asking the right questions but perhaps you missed the forum's Search feature? (yes, it does work and do try this link! )

IMHE, I believe a 3 female/2 male combo will work better in another planted tank, preferably with lots of moss, floaters and a few floating spawning mops. They won't feel good, let alone spawn, in a confined breeding net.

Eggs are very small and I have problems looking for them. Also, the eggs don't survive handling very well but fortunately, newly hatched ANN fry are safe to leave with the parents. They will hug the meniscus and can be scooped out easily. (Meniscus is the curved upper surface of a column of liquid. In our case, it's at the water line next to the glass).

One question for you. Any idea which population of the annulatus you're trying to breed? Good luck and do keep us updated.
I'm back & keeping 'em fingers wet,
    Ronnie Lee

Yes, in the link you supplied to me above they're the same as the ones in the very first picture. Thanks for the help Ronwill, I'll keep you posted to how I progress javascript:emoticon('')
