Hi,
You can always cover it with a net, easily available at DIY shop such as Home Fix.
Hi everyone,
I was thinking of putting some Aphyosemion males into my 3 feet community tank but is afraid of them jumping out of the tank. Are there any ways to cover the top of my tank without the lighting being too drastically reduced or the water being too heated up? (i have a PL light hood with 2 PL tubes, no cooling fan)
Thank you.

For some strange reason, my AUS never jump out from its tank.. My water level is only two inches from the top of tank and has no cover. Got about 30 of them in the small 1.8feet plastic tank with foam filter.

a cover of floating plants will also keep most any killie from jumping.
Well, i think if you train the fish to be brave. They wouldn't get frighten so easily and jump out of the tank.
I am using foam filter with L shape tube blasting water onto the water surface. (I connect my foam filter to a highblow 20.)
You must see how i raise them when they are about an inch size. 7 of them in one 8 inch diameter tub with 2 inch dept of water. (the tub only 2.x inch tall.)
To counter the water vapouration during my absent (away for holiday). I even top up the water all the way to the lips of the container. Still, zero suicider. Yes there are floating plants. But only tiny little bit.
Dave, i had just order a Chiller. Get the hint?![]()

When I started keeping AUS, some did jumped out, I believe that the cause may be due to the temperature and water conditions. Currently, I've got about 16 AUS in a 2ft tank and water level is only one inch from the top of tank and has no cover but have a 2 tube 18W fluorescent light hood and cooling fan, water temp is about 25.5 deg C, No jumping killies now.
