Wow, JianYang you done it again. Well, beautiful isn't it? The fish only about an inch in size. Will try to take some photo of the extra male that i have. Gold, blue and red colour. Kind of hard to make all of that show nicely.

    Kee Hoe,
You need to get yourself a flash, preferably one with TTL (Through The Lens) metering.

That is a nice red anal fin. The janpapi I'm familiar with have nice orange but not red. The body colour is also a bit different. There is also normally more colour in the caudal fin. A very interesting fish.

You going to try breed these? Its quite easy. Just condition the sexes apart and then put them together over peat for a bit. They spawn in the morning in the light. Raising the fry is tough though...

The anal fin is neon red. When kept in tank cover with dark colour gravel. The colour intensify. The body is purple'ish reflective. The other colours require strong flash to bring out. Since there are F1 i suppose the colour would be more intense anyway.

I also notice that F1 tends to jump a lot. Yes, even Notho jump.
2 of my Notho.Kor die because of that. They do jump.

Breeding is not difficult. Just that have to be daring a bit. Because the mature female is very small. only about 8/10 of an inch.

Hatching would be a bit of problem. Because the eggs are very very very small. Will have problem finding the eye up egg as they are just a tiny dot.

Bringing up also an issue. Because have to feed them 2 weeks of infusuria or walterworm before they can take BBS. Personally I prefer vinegar eel, as they feed near water surface (something different from other notho).

I think the fish is quite aggressive. Compare to Notho.Kor as least.

Another problem is the size difference. For some reason, some fry remain very small unless feed separately. I fix that by having a bigger tank, middle insert a partition with tiny holes that bigger fry can't swim through.

Now my breeding group consist of 3male 4female.

    Sounds like typical Aphyobrachius trouble.

I find they do best fed on frozen cyclops as soon as they are big enough to take it. 2 weeks is the normal time when they have to be fed infusoria. They quickly learn to take other foods. My luekei were very keen on beef heart and flake! Experiment but be careful.

The female never get very big.

    good luck.

The female always slower in development.

    Reason:
They are more picky on the food.
