I am working on a design for a liquid heat exchanger - not initially targeted at aquariums, but I want to allow for support of aquarium applications.
My base design uses 10 mm outside diameter tubing. I am wondering what the design standard should be to support and aquarium application - i.e. coming off the water pump, what is the pump outlet size?
I have seen references to 3/4 inch MPT (male pipe thread) outlets - which would equate to 20 mm OD tubing in my heat exchanger.
Within reason, the smaller the diameter, the larger the relative heat transfer surface area - so I want to stay as small gauge as possible.
