Kee Hoe,
I hope you don't mind but I took the liberty of editing the pic in PS and came up with this:
Image is temporarily hosted on my Photobucket account. KH, if you don't like it I'll take down the image immediately.
Bill, Ron, can you see it now?![]()

Temperature.... 20COriginally Posted by RonWill
This fish is a real promoter for tissue paper. (I use that the sweep the frost off the surface of the tank). I am sure others have other use. Such as stoping nose-bleed, soaking ever lasting drool. etc etc. Personally i use floor mop because just far too much condensation.
One question to Wright (if you are reading this). The fish does not looks as nice as compare in photograph. I think it is due to the reflection off the scale of the fish. Even the red body colour seems to be reflection.
Mmmmm interesting.

Sorry Bill, the photo was adjusted on my notebook and the notebook LCD kind of brighter than normal..........Originally Posted by ruyle

I think you will see his photo on tissue box before they really reproduce in mass. They are just far too slow and heat sensitive.Originally Posted by stormhawk

Kee Hoe,
Are you using a chiller, de Bruyn filter, or both? Wish you all success with these![]()
Bill
Colors can be from absorbing pigments or from reflective, angle-sensitive, mirror-like or iridescent effects due to cell layering that selectively reflects one color (usually blue or green). Red is normally the result of all other colors being absorbed, so the only color reflected is red (orange or yellow are often similar and usually are also basically pigments).Originally Posted by keehoe
Flash photography, using an on-camera flash, is guaranteed to give some unnatural coloring to most fish.
It also requires taking the picture at some angle other than 90 degrees from the glass surface to avoid reflective glare. That off-perpendicular angle can greatly increase some aberrations, like astigmatism and coma, so sharpness often suffers at wider apertures, too. [The latter is not very important with many consumer digicams because the lenses provided are so crappy to start with.]
Overhead lighting, as from a hood, will make the appearance much different from side lighting, as one might get from a window across the room. I like the latter for basically all-iridescent fish like Lampeyes, but the overhead light usually is better for fish with lots of pigments like Aphyos and Nothos.
For flash photography, I often like the flash off camera, and at about 45 degrees up and to one side from the direct view from the camera. Undiffused flash may make irridescence sparkle, but a soft box or reflective umbrella may be better for enhancing the pigments.

Bill, i am using a chiller on a 3 partition tank. Chiller rig up to the center tank and cold down the other two side via thermal through glass (AKA, not doing anything on the two side) This is easiest setup and best for the other two species. ZII and EXO like a bit warmer than the D.CYA.Originally Posted by ruyle
Right now center tank 21C, either side 22C. Would slowly adjust to 23C, 25C for better performance of all three species once the bacteria eperdermic is over. There are two tank in the middle partition. Outer tank host the chiller. Inner tank protect the species from the bacteria infection. (The 3 partition is not completely separated. There is some gap on the partition that the water will flow through slowly.)

Thanks Wright. I will paste this some where for future reference. When i have more time to play with light and camera on weekend.
