    All,
I'm going through a rough patch and killie eggs are, unfortunately, not a priority now. I get forgetful too and sometimes collected eggs get neglected, when these should have been dried and packed.

The eggs were left in bowls containing pH4 peat water and capped. It's interesting to note that while some eggs go on to develope and hatch, most had remained clear. I'm guessing resting eggs without embryol development trigger. Those that did hatch, some as soon as 6 weeks, were mostly sliders.

I don't have time to continue with their incubation and if there are no takers, I'm dumping the whole lot. No cost, no obligations and I'll not accept reservations as it's on a first-come-first-served basis. Those that can't keep appointments, please don't bother.

The unknown number of eggs were collected from Simp stellatus, S. igneus, S. magnificus and Austrolebias nigripinnis. I think there's also a collection from the FIL Ouida.

Update your intention here before the eggs hit the bin.
I'm back & keeping 'em fingers wet,

    All,
Spring cleaning and found more eggs. Some are past wetting date but still worth a shot. [if nothing comes out of it, I'm sorry for the wasted trip]

    Collected: 050926, Wet: 051121 (Nov 21st 2005, 8wks)
    Fundulosoma thierryi (THI) Aquarium strain
    Micromoema xiphophora (XPO)*
    Nothobranchius rachovii (RAC) Beira 98

    Collected: 050929, Wet 051124 (8wks)
    Fundulosoma thierryi (THI) Aquarium strain
    Nothobranchius rachovii (RAC) Beira 98
    Simpsonichthys igneus (IGN) Igarité
    Simpsonichthys magnificus (MGF) Itacarambi B7
Simpsonichthys stellatus (STL) Urucuia (São Romão)
    Austrolebias nigripinnis (NGP) Villa Soriano

    Collected: 051013, Wet 051208 (8wks)
    Nothobranchius rachovii (RAC) Beira 98
    Simpsonichthys igneus (IGN) Igarité
    Simpsonichthys magnificus (MGF) Itacarambi B7
Simpsonichthys stellatus (STL) Urucuia (São Romão)
    Austrolebias nigripinnis (NGP) Villa Soriano

    * The micromoema was under my care and now returned. Unfortunately, during the transition period, we lost the female. This bag is reserved. Point to note: Might require up to 20wks incubation, judging from Rashid's feedback (eggs collected from earlier batches still very clear).

I'd also want to get this off my chest...

Alot of times, newcomers to killifishes gawk at asking prices of breedable pairs or shun risks from overseas eggs order. Mentality being, if someone else can take the loss, why should I?

    So here's your chance.

If there are any lurkers here who feel competent to handle newly hatched fry and are willing to provide updates, the eggs are yours for the asking at no cost (just make sure you show up for collection at the appointed time).

I'm very serious about clearing them and you have 3 days to indicate your interest here. No emails, no PMs, please.

In the unfortunate event that there are absolutely no takers, I think it's clear where I should be heading and it's the dumpster for these eggs.

Side note: I'm not quitting the hobby but my 3 school-going kids need me more than killies do. I've been a half-decent father for 14 years but as a killie-keeper, I've been hopeless at it and still, there isn't a clear goal in sight.

I need time to search within and to heal. I need a break but my dormant participation should not be misconstrued as disinterest. I'll always be here if someone with the passion needs help.

    Hi Ron,

I will take all remaining eggs that have no taker. Will it be okay?

    Poh San,
Better giving the eggs a chance than inside the garbage bin. If no one else is interested, they are all yours.

    Hi Ronnie,
There are fish here for you whenever you have the urge again, or if you just feel like a beer sometime with no fish talk give me a call.

    Scott.

    PS.
Your fish are doing fine, just collected some igneus and stellatus eggs earlier.
    Thanks again,
    Scott Douglass

    Hello

I'm restarting my setup and would be keen on any charitable donations that you could muster. My current address is:
    28 Fieldview Close
    Edgemead
    7441
    South Africa

(KL, the pot hasn't arrived yet... I guess the boats are slow.)

thanks in advance Ron for anything you can spare. I'll see what I can repciprocate with later on... Rudolf Koubek's Diapterons and rare Gabon Aphyosemion are slowly filtering out locally and a lot of people here owe me favours... (I find favours to be the best currency. Its amazing how far a little kindness can go, and how much interest it can bare. I'll rather spend kindness then save money.)

    Keep well

    Hi dear,

If you have still have faith in me, I would like to take the responsibilities of maintaining the Nothobranchius Rachovii Bera'98.

Let me know the outcome but please don't make me travel to CCK

Tyrone, the boats aren't that slow. Take a look at this post.
Should I send the next bowl to the address you just posted?

Ronnie, I think it's all for the best. Trying to maintain many species of Killifish can be too much of a burden for one person. As the head of a family myself, I can understand how it is with the wife and kids. Sometimes, we neglect them when we spend too much time on our hobby. It isn't too bad with my family as my wife has always been supportive and my daughters relatively grown-up but in your case, it would be better for you if you spend more time with your family.

Let's hope those who take the eggs from you spread the species around when they have successfully bred them. I would have asked you for the Austrolebias nigripinnis eggs for my friend, Melvyn but knowing him, he will never post updates.

    Tyrone,
As much as I would like to pop the whole package over to you, I figured it just wasn't feasible to ship questionable eggs out of the country. None of the bags were verified for viable eggs and others are collecting them 'as is'. No promises.

If fellow forumers manage to get a stable population going, we can still talk about it then. Hope you understand.

    All,
The bags are earmarked to go into local mailboxes (SMS me your addresses) or self-collection at EcoCulture. Let me know.

    Kwek Leong,
I had intended a small adult group of 4M:1F Simp magnificus that's going out to Melvyn but lost them due to neglect. Another time perhaps.

As for family support, there hasn't been a word of complaint from my Mrs but she'll grin and say to friends, "cheaper for him to keep fishes than a mistress".

    Hi Ronnie,

Good business ethics you got there. I've sent eggs once that were a mix-up and now I'm far more cautious... I also don't send eggs unless I know there ARE eggs actually in the peat, and more or less how many. Its just good practice (as you well know).

KL, if you want to give it another go, I will be at the above address till at least December.:-)

    Thanks
