    Hi, folks,

On my 3rd attempt, I finally managed to hatch the eggs. I got 18 fry, most look healthy. The S. reticulatus is a Killie I want very much so I'm terribly delighted.

Is there a need to update the census, Jianyang?

Hi KL, How long did you incubate them for? I have a bag sitting here, but the Brazilian guy I got them off told me they need 6 months. For now I am taking his word on it..
Good luck with them cos they are pretty looking fish and if mine dont hatch I will be chasing you..

    Scott.
    Thanks again,

I can't remember, Scott. I don't keep records either so I really can't give you an accurate answer.

For me, I don't worry too much about incubation periods. I know, with our temperatures, most annual eggs take about 2 months to develop and that's when I usually wet them. If nothing hatches, I dry the eggs and wet it again in another 2 or 3 weeks.

I took a look at the fry this afternoon and they are eating well and swimming strongly. If there's a pair among them, I'm quite confident of raising many of them in the future. I'll keep you in mind when I start to spread them around, Scott.

By the way, I won't wait 6 months if I were you. 3 months would be about right, I think.
