Help - urgent

Hi, I just bought some Fissidens which cost a lot for an extremely small patch of moss and put it in my office shrimp only tank with my cherries and malayan. What happen is there is a bunch of shrimps (big and small) clinging to it now - seems to be feeding. Should I remove it immediately? Anybody knows if fissidens can survive with malayan and cherries in the tank? Help please!!

I don't think you have anything to worry about. Only the Yamato shrimp is known to eat mosses. I have Cherries and Malayan Shrimp in my tanks too and I notice they often crowd around newly-introduced mosses. They are picking up food from the moss but they won't eat the moss itself.

Thanks KL. Well, I left it there in the tank overnight and it is still okay this morning. What a relieve!

Now that you have seen for yourself what the shrimps do, it's a good thing to keep in mind. If your mosses ever get covered with algae, just put it in a dark place and throw in some shrimps. A lack of light for several days won't kill the moss but it will help keep the algae in check. The shrimps will do the rest. They will pick the mosses clean.
