    Hi folks,

    Iīm gonna introduce myself first!! My name is Roberto Tino and typing from Brazil - I live in the South part of Brazil at Parana State. Iīm 28 y/o physician, aquagardener and a killie intusiastic!!

    I would like to know if the Nothobranchius korthausae "Mafia Island" population is able to born in two colour pattern in the same peet alevins?? Iīve been takinī 2 colour patterns - red and yellow - in the same alevins brothers!!!

    Is this possible??? Or itīs a not "pure" population???

    If anyone has any valid information Iīll hope for a reply!

    Anyway, my English is not so good and I wish that everybody can really understand what I just typped!!!

    That is their natural coloring. The wild population has both the red and the yellow morph. Hybrids of the two tend to have the bands in the caudal of the males, which makes it a liittle easier to select for the reds. Pure (homozygous) reds have no fin banding at all. The yellows are recessive, so can be bred true by selecting a female who throws only yellows when bred to a yellow.

    Some brazilian hobbyst told me that was the natural coloring of Mafia Island population but I was getting to put my doubt away!!!

    To select the true colour of red or yellow will be dificult. I donīt have so much time to spend on this because Iīm physician and itīs the first peet that I take from them.

    Iīll gonna separate the alevins following the colour patterns. Letīs see what happend!!!!!
