That's amazing, Jeffrey. And amazing still that you don't have problems with different types of algae.![]()
You must have a large water bill; how many percent of water do you replace everyday? Or are you fortunate to have a natural spring water in your backyard?
![]()
hahahaYes, I don't have any problem with algae. But there's some green spot algae in front of the glass.

The water is changed continously about 500L/day.Lucky me, I have a good natural water spring in my backyard. Just pump it out using water pump.

Jeffrey,
I am impressed!
- Beautiful (all well grown plants are)
- Colourful (the colour as they should be)
- Healthy (clean, dense, good sized leaves)
What's the water temperature (in degree celcius)?
What a lucky guy to have a pond at home as hobby ...... and with free flowing spring ...... and have time for it ......![]()
Hi Fredy,
Thanks for your comments. The water temperature is about 22C - 24C. I made this tank for various experiment with some difficult plants that I can't keep in my indoor aquariums and to grow some plants to its full potential size.
I think it's not a 'real' aquascape that brings out the beauty of nature likes Amano's.![]()
Regards,
Jeffrey
Great tank, Jeffrey. Now tell us, how on earth did you do it without CO2 injection?
Loh K L
Hi KL,
24-hr water change will keep sufficient amount of CO2 and all nutrients need.![]()
This is my tap water parameter :
pH 7
kH 4
gH 4
NO3 0
NO2 0
All of my potted plants are grown using natural garden-soil mixed with dried goat poop, and silica based sand at the top.![]()

Hi,
Nice plants you have there. How I wish I could have a stream behind my backyard. So that I can pump the water in continously every day.
Btw, I think KL and fc attracting by your pictures and forgotten to ask you to sign off with your real name at your signature or bottom of the post.
My new blog about field trip, aquascaping, DIY and etc. http://dominicanrepublica.blogspot.com
Jeffrey,
I would be delighted to see pictures of the stream and how you rig up the pump to change the water in your tank continuously. I'm sure the water from the stream is filtered first before it goes into your tank, right?
You're one lucky fella. I think you must be the only hobbyist in the world who uses a stream to grow aquatic plants in a tank.
Loh K L
Hi K L,
It's not a stream. I live in industrial area, so there is no clean stream here. It's extremely poluted. The water I get is from an old well in my backyard which is very clean.
My E. stellata grows so many shoots from its main stem.![]()
